What is "Seeding"?

In the torrenting world, a computer that has a complete copy of a particular digital file (or torrent) is called a "seed" for that torrent, and a computer that only has part of a particular digital file, or an incomplete set of the digital files in a torrent, is called a "peer" for that torrent. "Seeding" (and "peering") is when your computer shares small pieces of a file with others seeking those parts. More seeds in the "swarm" usually means you get the content faster. Accordingly, its considered good etiquette to continue seeding a file after you have finished downloading, thus enabling others to get it more quickly. Hopefully, they will do the same for you in return for files you may want.
