What are Beta Updates?
You can see the option "Beta Updates" in all a-squared programs at the update settings. If this option is activated, the following happens:
Instead of the regular tested and usually full functional updates you will get the latest beta files downloaded and installed on your PC.
Beta updates contain the latest developments before they are released as stable for all users. These updates have not been tested in detail before and may contain bugs.
Please keep in mind, that there is a risk using beta updates! Under special circumstances you may crash your operating system completely. Never use beta updates on production systems!
As soon as the new files are ready for a stable release, they will be transferred to the regular update tree. That happens from time to time, from weeks to months. On such an event, both update trees contain the same files.
If we have created new untested changes on the program, there will be beta updates available again.
You can switch between beta and stable updates whenever you want. At the next online update run, all files that are different will be downloaded and replaced.
