My virus scanner found something in the restore- or temp-folder, a-squared didnt. Why?
Sometimes, virus scanners detects Malware in on of the following hidden or system folders, but a-squared doesn't:
* C:\_RESTORE
* C:\System Volume Information
* C:\Windows\Temp
* C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
* ..\Content.IE5
As long as Malware is only found in of of these folders, there is no danger.
_RESTORE:
In the "_RESTORE" or "System Volume Information" folders, Windows stores the files for the system recovery feature. If you deactivate the system recovery, a² can remove the infected files.
Windows ME: My Computer (right-click)/ Properties/ Performance/ deactivate System Recovery (after scanning with a-squared, you can re-activate it)
Windows XP: My Computer (right-click)/ Properties/ System Recovery/ deactivate System Recovery (after scanning with a-squared, you can re-activate it)
Temp*:
All other "Temp" folders: You can delete the content or clear the browser history.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 10 MB at the Settings.
Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache
Then, please scan all your harddisks once again with a-squared to ensure there is no Malware left.
