How can I determine if the a-squared Anti-Malware background guard is running and working correctly?
Download the harmless EICAR test file http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm and try to start it ("eicar.com"). The a-squared guard blocks the execution of the file with an alert "Eicar test file". Then you can remove the file.
If you don't get the alert message, it may have one of the following reasons:
* You have installed a-squared Free instead of a-squared Anti-Malware. The background guard is only contained in a-squared Anti-Malware.
* The guard is not activated. Run the a-squared Guard via the Start menu - Programs - a-squared Anti-Malware - a-squared Guard. Go to the guard configuration and ensure the box "Enable backgroundguard on system startup" is activated.
